Trong Hieu Nguyen , actually: Nguyễn Trọng Hiếu , (born July 4, 1992 in Bad Kissingen ) is a German-Vietnamese singer and dancer who became known as the winner of the sixth season of the casting show Vietnam Idol in 2015.

Life

Hieu's parents came to Germany in 1991. The family lived for the first few years in a home for asylum seekers in Münnerstadt , later in Bad Kissingen with an unlimited residence permit . In 2011 he graduated from the Jack Steinberger Gymnasium . He then trained as a singer at the Music College in Hanover . During his training he also taught piano and singing at the Integrative Music Schools in Hanover.

Even as a primary school student , he won numerous dance competitions and was German runner-up in 2011 and German and European champion at Dance4Fans in 2012 . In 2008 he applied to Deutschland sucht den Superstar. He was among the top 25. In 2014 he applied to the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest , but was eliminated beforehand. In September 2014 he released the video Peter Pan .

During a vacation trip to Vietnam in April 2015, he found out about the final casting date for the sixth season of Vietnam Idol . He applied spontaneously, was accepted and elected to the final in August. He was nicknamed German Hot Boy during the show . With 71.5% of the callers he was finally able to prevail against his last local competitor Bích Ngọc .

Trong Hieu now lives alternately in Vietnam and Berlin. His Vietnamese winner song was published in a German version ( Wie ich bin ) in autumn 2015 . He announced this during a performance by Markus Lanz on the subject of the fate of refugees on September 2, 2015.
