Niccola Ferrarelli

Niccola Ferrarelli (also Nicolaus Ferrarelli ; born September 9, 1762 in Rome , † November 28, 1843 ibid) was an Italian bishop of the Curia .

Life

He received his doctorate on July 27, 1785 at the University of La Sapienza to Doctor iuris utriusque . On April 11, 1789 he was ordained a priest . Then he was professor of canon law at the Sapienza until he was on September 30, 1831 by Pope Gregory XVI. was appointed titular bishop of Maronea . He was ordained bishop on November 13th of the same year in Rome by Cardinal Vincenzo Macchi ; Co- consecrators were Archbishop Giovanni Giacomo Sinibaldi and Archbishop Costantino Patrizi Naro . On January 11, 1833 Niccola Ferrarelli was appointed Papal Assistant to the Throne . On April 15, 1833, at the age of 70, he was appointed secretary of the Congregation for the Apostolic Visitation; on September 11, 1834, he was also consultor of the Congregation for Bishops and Regulars, and on March 31, 1835, examiner of the bishops in canon law. On February 1, 1836, he was finally made titular Archbishop of Myra and appointed canon of the papal basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore .
