Nick "Nicky" Hofs (born May 17, 1983 in Arnhem ) is a former Dutch football player . Since 2013 he has been under contract in various positions as a youth coach at SBV Vitesse in his hometown of Arnhem. Since 2017 he has been the assistant coach of the first team playing in the Eredivisie .
Player career

He began his career at the age of five years in the youth team of the Arnhem club Arnhemse Boys . In 1995 he switched to the youth of Vitesse Arnhem . In 2001 he was brought to the Vitesse A-Team. In his first season he made 13 appearances and scored two hits. During the winter break of the 2004/05 season, he moved to Feyenoord Rotterdam . In the 2005/06 season Hofs got off to a good start with four goals in six games. A serious knee injury forced him to take a break. After he only made eleven appearances in the Eredivisie for Rotterdam in 2007/08, the Feyenoord officials decided to loan him to Arnhem for the following season. After that, Arnhem decided to sign up and Hofs signed a two-year contract. However, this was dissolved in 2010 because of Vitesse's financial problems; Hofs switched to the Cypriot first division club AEL Limassol . At the end of the 2010/11 season he returned to the Netherlands, where he kept fit with his old club in Arnhem from July. Four weeks later he got a new one-year contract with Vitesse. In the winter break 2012/13 Hofs was loaned to the later relegated Willem II to Tilburg. After the 2012/13 season, Hofs ended his active career and took a position as a youth coach at Vitesse. Hofs played 239 games in the Eredivisie, including 163 with 28 goals for Vitesse, 68 with 21 goals for Feyenoord and nine without a goal for Willem II. There were also 14 league games for AEL Limassol.
National team
Hofs was the captain of the U-21 selection of the Dutch national team , which became European champions in 2006. He scored twice in the semi-finals and once in the final against Ukraine . Behind his teammate Klaas-Jan Huntelaar , he finished second on the scorers list.
He played his only game in the senior national team as a substitute on March 1, 2006 against Ecuador .

In addition to a brief engagement with the amateur club MASV in the 2013/2014 season, Nicky Hofs has been under contract as a coach at his home club Vitesse Arnheim since 2013 . From 2013 to 2017 exclusively assistant to the U19 team, in the same year he was first promoted to head coach of the U19s, and later to assistant coach of the first team coached by Henk Fraser .
Private
Nicky Hofs is the nephew of the brothers Bennie Hofs and Henk Hofs , both former Vitesse Arnheim players.
