Nick Tyrone "Nicky" Little (born September 13, 1976 in Tokoroa , New Zealand ) is a Fijian rugby union player who is used in the position of the connector . He is active for the Fijian national team and the English club Bristol Rugby . He has the most international appearances and the most points for Fiji.
Career
Little was born in New Zealand to a Fijian and a Māori son . At the age of 19 he joined the Canterbury Rugby Football Union , later playing for Waikato and North Harbor , before moving to England in 1999 for the Sale Sharks . It didn't last long there either and so he first went to Wales to the Pontypridd RFC , then to the US Dax from France, before returning to England, where he played for the Saracens for three years .
Little made his national team debut in 1996 when Fiji met South Africa . Since then he has developed into a reliable kicker and is part of the core of the Fiji national team. He took part in the 1999 World Championships , where he got 38 points that went up to the round of hope, in which England was defeated. At the 2003 World Cup , he was able to increase his performance to 45 points, which, however, could not prevent the preliminary round.
The preliminary high point of his career followed at the World Championships in France , where Fiji managed to eliminate the favored Welsh people and advance to the quarter-finals. He scored 18 points in the 38:34 success, but injured himself shortly before the end of the game. Because of this injury he could not compete against the eventual world champions South Africa. Before and after the win against Wales, Little caused a sensation when he described his team's victory as a success against modern rugby in several interviews. He was referring to the discrepancy between low wage earners and the players who play in the leagues in England or France, for example. He criticized that it was too much about money and technical finesse and not about commitment and passion.
In 2009 Little moved back to England, his new club is Bath . He was hired to replace the injured player Butch James and received a one-year contract.
