Nico Sommer (* 1983 in Berlin ) is a German film director and film editor .

life and work

After his community service Nico Sommer completed several internships in the film industry and an assistant director training. From 2006 he studied at the Kassel Art College , choosing to focus on feature and documentary film directing. In January 2015 the Lichtblick-Kino in Berlin showed a retrospective consisting of the documentary Die Taktstürmer and the two feature films Silvi and Familienfieber .

Awards

  • 2012: The graduation film in the Vaterlandsliebe course was nominated for the First Steps Award .
  • 2013: Silvi premiered at the Berlinale, the German theatrical release was on October 3, 2013.
  • 2014 family fever . The feature film received the Max Ophüls Prize of the Saarland Prime Minister at the Saarbrücken Film Festival.
