occupation

Familienfieber is a German tragic comedy from the independent or Berlin Mumblecore area by director Nico Sommer .

action

Maja and Uwe Roth are stuck in their almost 20-year marriage. The dreary everyday life dominates the life and the lousy mood of Papa Uwe, who finds his way through as a poster sticker. Alina, daughter of Maja and Uwe, on the other hand, calls on Nico to a family reunion with Nico's parents in the Brandenburg area as part of her newly discovered love. Badly prepared, the Roths drive to an unfamiliar place in Brandenburg. But when both married couples and their children meet, a nasty surprise soon bursts. Because Maja has a relationship with Nico's father, which she didn't know. When the situation seems to turn, Alina discusses with Nico how to deal with Alina's pregnancy, about which the parents are not yet allowed to know. After spending another night on the castle grounds, Uwe got the idea to start a therapy talk with a video camera to ease the bad mood. When the four adults have examined each other closely, the children reach the castle again and tell their parents that Alina is pregnant.

reception

After his highly acclaimed feature film debut Silvi, the director is again dealing with the 40+ generation. Summer contrasts the tragicomic main characters with his almost obligatory interview settings. The film was received very positively at the Festival of German Films in Ludwigshafen. With this, director Nico Sommer has succeeded in creating a relaxed, light summer comedy. The film is described as immensely dense, real and charming. Nico Sommer's staging is judged to be natural, sensitive and unaffected, as well as outstanding.

background

The tragicomedy was shot on a budget in just seven days and only had two months to prepare. Only four A4 pages with the storyline, which defined the content of possible scenes, served as the basis for the shooting. The spoken dialogues were completely improvised by the main actors Kathrin Waligura , Peter Trabner, Deborah Kaufmann , Jörg Witte as well as Anais Urban and Jan Amazigh Sid. In the credits of the film, producer and director Nico Sommer is also named as the author. During the shooting, the shooting team was kept small in order to be able to react flexibly to the creativity of the actors on the set and to make the scenes authentic. The film was shot on the RED Scarlet with a single focal length . Familienfieber is already the second feature film from the production company süsssauer Filmproduktion, which was founded by Nico Sommer 2003. Filming locations were u. a. Berlin-Marzahn , surroundings of the Berlin Zoologischer Garten train station , country roads south of Berlin and a castle in the village of Stülpe.

Awards
