Nicola Graef (* 1970 in Landau an der Isar ) is a German television journalist , documentary filmmaker and film producer in the field of documentary films .

Graef studied German , theater studies and philosophy in Munich and completed another degree in London, which she completed with a Master of Arts in “theater studies”. She then worked as a freelance writer and journalist for the London studios of ZDF and NDR . After an internship at NDR in Hamburg, she worked as an editor for various productions on NDR television .

Together with Susanne Brand, she founded the production company Lona Media , which produces various documentaries and reports for television, including contributions for the formats 37 degrees and people up close . From 2003 to 2006 she hosted the talk show Westart am Sonntag on WDR television . Until 2008, Gräf was the owner of the Hamburg gallery plan b . With the documentary Ich. Immendorff produced her first movie in 2008. Graef accompanied Jörg Immendorff for the film recordings for the last two years before his death.

In 2016 Graef's documentary " Neo Rauch - Companions and Companions " premiered in Leipzig . The unofficial premiere was on February 23, 2017 in Hamburg (photo).

Her four-part documentary series Hotel Legenden was shown on ARD in August 2020 . She told stories about Le Bristol in Paris, the American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem, the Beau Rivage in Geneva and the Adlon in Berlin.

Prices

In 2006 Graef received the Civis - Europe's media prize for integration in the information sector for her documentation The Enemy in the House. When children become Nazis in the WDR television series, people up close . In 2012, together with Güner Yasemin Balci, she was awarded the Civis TV Prize for the report Death of a Judge - In the footsteps of Kirsten Heisig in the same format.
