Joachim Illies (Rector)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joachim Illies , also Ilies or Illyes , (* around 1535 in Stettin , † 1589 in Stralsund ) was a teacher and theologian of the 16th century.

Life

The first study of Joachim Illies, unknown to Ernst Heinrich Zober when his first biography was being written, but correctly assumed by him because of missing matriculation entries in Greifswald and Rostock with Frankfurt (Oder) due to spatial proximity, is documented by the matriculation of the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt , where Joachimus Ilies Stetinensis registered himself in 1553 . In 1560 he was sub- principal when the grammar school was founded in Stralsund under the principal Lorenz Wydeman . He left the Stralsund school service and pursued additional studies at the University of Rostock from Michaelis 1561, there he enrolled under the indication of origin Stettinensis Pomeranu ; a third-hand addition reads: Mgr. artium et concionator Sundensis . He received his doctorate in January 1566 at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Rostock again with the indication of origin in the matriculation Stetinensis with later addition of the third hand Pastor Sundensis ad divam Virginem .

From Michaelmas 1565 to Easter 1569 Joachim Illies was again employed in the school service and as the successor to Nicolaus Strokrantz Rector at the Stralsund grammar school; his successor as rector was Kaspar Jentzkow . Ascension 1569 he was ordained as a preacher at the St. Nikolai Church (Stralsund) . From 1581 until his death he was pastor at the Marienkirche in Stralsund .

Individual evidence

  1. Zobers (see Lit.) unproven estimate of the year of birth around 1520 is put into perspective by matriculation in 1553 in Frankfurt (Oder); his speculations about the alternative origin from Stralsund are also superfluous.
