Nicola Scaife (* 1984/85 in Albury ) is an Australian balloon athlete . In 2014 she became the first FAI women's world champion in hot air ballooning in Leszno , and in 2016 she was able to defend this title in Birštonas .

Scaife was born in Albury, New South Wales . As a teenager she chose canoe marathon as a competitive sport, but had to give up due to injury. Then she became interested in hot air ballooning. After working for a company in the industry, Scaife started ballooning in 2006. A year later she received her license and then became a commercial pilot.

Scaife has been taking part in competitions since 2013. In her fourth competition, she won the first FAI Women's World Championship in 2014 in Leszno, Poland. Two years later she successfully defended her title at the second world championship in Birštonas, Lithuania. In 2018 Scaife won bronze at the third FAI Women's World Championship in Nałęczów , Poland.

Scaife and her husband Matthew run a balloon business in Hunter Valley . They are the parents of two sons.
