After the European championships in Alytus (Lithuania, 2010) and Frankenthal (Germany, 2012) it was the first world championship and the third balloon sport event according to the guidelines of the FAI in which women competed for the title of the best hot air balloon pilot in Europe. The competition was held from September 8th to 13th, 2014. 38 balloonists from 16 European countries took part. The future world champion entered the race with start number "1", as Australia led the alphabetical order. One of the possible take-off locations was the Leszno-Strzyżewice Airport (EPLS) in Strzyżewice near Leszno. The competition management was with Mathijs De Bruijn, Netherlands. September 8th was reserved for the general briefing and the opening event on the market square in Leszno. Due to the weather, five of the nine planned trips could be carried out on five days of the competition.

On September 11th, Elise Kloss and Dolly Deimling from Germany finished 3rd and 4th. On the fourth trip in the beginning rain they reversed this order. Because of the rain there were protests and counter-protests, after the decision of the jury, the trip was rated. The fifth and last trip only had two tasks, but it brought the decision. Agnė Simonavičiūtė overtook the two German drivers. Sylvia Meinl and Ann Herdewyn fought for centimeters on the penultimate task. Meinl was 8 cm better, both got 1000 points. Elisabeth Kindermann was able to reduce the gap to the leading Nicola Scaife down to a few points. Everyone expected an exciting sixth drive for the final placements. The morning mist of the last day, however, did not allow any further argument.

Lithuania won the team competition and the trophy. Daria Dudkiewicz won the Leszno Cup by winning the last task . The last competition race was held in Dolsk .
