Nicola Walker

Nicola Walker (born May 15, 1970 in Stepney , England , United Kingdom ) is a British actress . Her best-known role in German-speaking countries is that of Ruth Evershed in the series Spooks - In the sights of MI5 .

Live and act

Walker was born in Stepney , London and has a brother. At the beginning of her acting training, she met David Wolstencroft , the creator of the series Spooks - In the sights of MI5 . Her first major role was in the 1997 television film A Dance to the Music of Time , after previously starring in a very small role in the comedy Four Weddings and a Death . Then she was present for two seasons in the series Chalk, invented by Steven Moffat , as a teacher. She was also on the main cast of Touching Evil as DI Susan Taylor.

In 2003 her role as Ruth Evershed in Spooks was created especially for her, as Wolstencroft had her in the back of her mind and wanted to replace the role of Tessa Phillips played by Jenny Agutter with a new character. She held this role until season five. Because of her pregnancy, she left the series in order to devote more time to her role as a mother. She returned to Spooks in 2009 and was back on the cast list until the series ended in 2011.

In 2011 and 2012, Walker had roles in the series Being Human and Inside Men . In 2015 she played Jackie "Stevie" Stevenson, the colleague of investigator John River, played by Stellan Skarsgård , in the BBC crime drama series River . She has also been the leading actress in the ITV series Unforgotten since 2015

Nicola Walker is with the actor Barnaby Kay and has had a son since 2006. She named her son Harry after Harry Pierce , the role played by Peter Firth of her manager in Spooks .
