Nikolaikirche Munster

The Nicolaikirche was a Protestant church building in Münster-Roxel . It was built in 1965 and 1966, and in 1986 the church tower and the addition of a community center were added. The building, which belonged to the Münster parish of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia , was demolished in 2019.

The part of the name Nicolai is reminiscent of the Lutheran court preacher, pastor and song writer Philipp Nicolai .

Furnishing

The interior of the church appeared as a simple, rectangular, brick-built church with a three-tier flat ceiling. In the choir wall (west wall) there was a window on the right that extends from the ceiling to the floor. Incidentally, the windows were found on the side walls as a kind of clapboard window . The colored glazing was created by the glass painter Kathinka Anczykowski (Münster); they were originally in the gradations of the roof.

In front of the choir wall there was the baptismal font on the left , the altar in the middle , and the pulpit on the right , each of which was created from Baumberger sandstone according to a design by the sculptor Karl Ehlers .

To the left and right of the altar hung a stone relief made of Baumberger sandstone on the choir wall. Both reliefs came from the Roxel peasantry. One depicted the crucifixion of Christ, the second, much older, relief was from around 1770. It was a Pietà .

Until the beginning of 2019 there was an organ in the Nicolaikirche , which had been built in 1987 by the organ building company Schuke (Berlin) and which stood as an interim organ in the Lambertikirche (Münster) until 1989 . The slider chests -instrument has ten registers (646 pipes) on two manuals and pedal . After the Nikolaikirche was deedicated, the instrument was sold to the Evangelical parish of Lukas in Schwäbisch Hall and installed there in early 2019.

The church had two chimes with the striking tones C sharp 2 and F sharp 2 ; originally a ringing with 8 bells was planned. The bells did not hang in the tower in front of the church, which was a pure stele , but in the roof of the church.

Dedication and demolition

With a view to the financial situation of the evangelical parish Roxel-Albachten-Bösensell, a competence team has been dealing with questions of the future use and maintenance of parish rooms since 2015. In the interests of a sustainable, future-oriented solution, u. a. In view of the energetic deficiencies of the Nicolaikirche including the community rooms, a partial dismantling, conversion or demolition of the church and ancillary rooms in favor of a new building was discussed.

In 2018 it was decided to demolish the building complex on the property located in a residential area. The property is being rebuilt by an investor, mainly with residential units, as well as a new church room including community rooms. The Nicolaikirche was dedicated in a service on May 26, 2019. New premises for the parish are to be built on part of the property by 2021.
