Nicolaus Lamparter (also Nicolaus Lamperter ; † 1529  ?) Was a German printer in Basel .

Live and act

Nicolaus Lamparter came from Strasbourg in Alsace. The oldest mention in Basel is known from 1497, in 1500 he received citizenship there and became a member of the gardeners' guild. The oldest dated print of him is from 1505, in that year he also became a member of the saffron guild (= guild of collectors of various professional groups).

In 1507 Lamparter studied at the newly opened university in Frankfurt (Oder) and printed several books with Balthasar Murrer that year and the following . In 1509 he had apparently left the city and returned to Base.

In 1513 Lamparter took part in the Swiss campaign against Dijon and in 1515 applied for the office of master of the city of Basel (who was responsible for collecting interest). In 1522 he gave back the citizenship of the city and left it because of debts. He went to Constance and leased the women's shelter in Süßen Winkel with Dorothea Pfirter.

In 1526 Nicolaus Lamparter returned to Basel and became a Sigrist (sexton) at the Church of St. Martin . He probably died in 1529.

29 certain and suspected prints by Nicolaus Lamparter have been preserved in Basel between 1503/05 and 1521, in Frankfurt (Oder) with Balthasar Murrer from 1507 to 1508 about eight.
