Nicole Forrester

Nicole Wendy Forrester (born November 17, 1976 in Toronto ) is a Canadian high jumper .

Her athletic career began when she was working at McDonald’s at the age of 17 and track and field coach Dave Hunt noticed her "endless" legs. He introduced her to Carl Georgevski, who taught her the high jump. Because of her talent, she received an athletic scholarship from the University of Michigan .

In 1998 she was sixth at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur . The following year she won bronze at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg , but was eliminated from the qualification at the World Athletics Championships in Seville .

In 2001 she won silver at the Francophonie Games in Ottawa and the Universiade in Beijing . A bronze medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester was followed by a seventh place at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo. In 2007 she won silver at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro . At the 2007 World Cup in Osaka and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, she did not get past the first round.

A bronze medal at the 2009 Francophonie Games in Beirut was followed by victory at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

She was Canadian champion eight times (1998, 1999, 2002, 2006–2008, 2010, 2012).

Nicole Forrester is 1.92 m tall and weighs 72 kg. She did her doctorate in sport psychology on the subject of Good to great in elite athletes: towards an understanding of why some athletes make the leap and others do not.
