Location of Niederarnbach in Bavaria

Niederarnbach is a village and district of Brunnen (Bavaria) in the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen , which belongs to the administrative district of Upper Bavaria in Bavaria .

geography

Niederarnbach is located immediately south of the Donaumoos and on the Paartalbahn ; the next train station is in Schrobenhausen .

history

Niederarnbach had been the seat of a family of ministers from Wittelsbach since the 11th century . In 1464 the place appears in the Schrobenhausen tax book as Hofmark . Two centuries later, the owners of the Hofmark were also given jurisdiction over the villages of Brunnen, Hohenried and Pobenhausen .

In 1665 the Barons von Pfetten , a family from Pürgen , acquired the Hofmark as a fief from the Elector . Sigmund Marquard Freiherr von Pfetten (1641–1709) was the progenitor of the younger Pfetten line that settled here. In 1690 the Niederarnbach estate became a property of the von Pfetten-Niederarnbach family. It largely coincided with today's municipality of Brunnen, because the area of the Hohenried municipality, which was independent until 1978, had also been in the possession of the Pfetten family since 1665. Until the abolition of patrimonial jurisdiction in 1848, the noble family exercised rulership rights in what is now the municipality of Brunnen.

The lion in the coat of arms of the community of Brunnen is taken from the family coat of arms.

Architectural monuments

The outstanding building in the village is the Renaissance moated castle , which was built in 1598 by Ferdinand Vöhlin von Frickenhausen.
