history
The small village probably existed as early as the 8th century, as archaeological finds have shown. The place was first mentioned in 1432 under the place name Nyderselbach . At the beginning of the 19th century, Niedersalbach belonged to the Mairie Sellerbach.
In 1936 the independent municipality of Salbach was created from the towns of Obersalbach, Kurhof and Niedersalbach . With the end of the Second World War , the community was initially under US military administration for a short time, but from July 10, 1945 under French military administration.
On January 1, 1958, the Salbach community was dissolved and divided between the two successor communities of Niedersalbach and Obersalbach-Kurhof .
As part of the territorial and administrative reform that came into force on January 1, 1974, these two communities were assigned to the community of Heusweiler.
