The Niederstettener tunnel is the only railway tunnel on the Crailsheim – Königshofen railway line near Niederstetten in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . The length of the tunnel is 273 meters. It is under monument protection as part of the “Württembergische Taubertalbahn” .

The railway tunnel leads through the Gewann Wäldle on the Lämmerberg, for example under the Castle Haltbergstetten . After the south portal ( Lage ) the route leads in the direction of Schrozberg and after the north portal ( Lage ) in the direction of Laudenbach . Both portals are located in the district of the core city of Niederstetten .

history

From October 2009 to March 2010, the Niederstetten tunnel was extensively renovated for almost five million euros while being completely closed, and at the same time the stretch between Niederstetten and Schrozberg was overhauled.
