The Reicholzheimer Tunnel , also Waldenhausen Tunnel , is a railway tunnel on the Lauda – Wertheim line between the Wertheimer localities Reicholzheim and Waldenhausen in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . The length of the tunnel is 542 meters. As part of the "Badische Taubertalbahn" entity , it is a listed building .

The railway tunnel runs through the Mühlberg near the Teilbacher Mühle near the Wertheim village of Reicholzheim . After the south portal ( Lage ) the route leads in the direction of Reicholzheim and after the northwest portal ( Lage ) in the direction of Wertheim. Both portals are located in the district of the Wertheim town of Waldenhausen .

It is the third of a total of three tunnels on the Lauda – Wertheim railway line (next to the Gamburger Tunnel and the Bronnbach Tunnel ).

history

In autumn 2018, a 16 million euro renovation of the rail tunnel near Waldenhausen / Reicholzheim began. This should last until the end of 2020. After the renovation, the railway tunnel should last 100 years.
