Nierembergia tandilensis is a plant type from the type of the white mug ( Nierembergia ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Nierembergia tandilensis is an upright plant that becomes about 28 cm high. The main trunk is woody and persistent, at about the same height it forms leafy and rarely branched side shoots. The leaves are elliptically pointed. They are 8 to 14 mm long and about 1.5 mm wide and are very hairy.

The flowers are on a 3 to 7 mm long peduncle . The calyx is 11.5 to 15 mm long and has pointed triangular, 3.5 to 6 mm long calyx tips. The crown measures 25 to 30 mm in width at the coronet, the corolla tube not protruding from the calyx is 12.5 to 15 mm long.

Occurrence

The species occurs at altitudes between 700 and 1900 meters, the locations are in the Tandil - Ventania region of the Argentine province of Buenos Aires .

Systematics and botanical history

The species was in 1898 by Otto Kuntze first as a variety tandilensis the type Nierembergia graveolens described . In 1965 it was given the status of its own species by Ángel Lulio Cabrera .
