Nierembergia veitchii is a plant type from the type of the white mug ( Nierembergia ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Nierembergia veitchii is a creeping plant with rooting shoots that can grow up to 40 cm long. The leaves are short-stalked, elliptical, broad or pointed and 13 to 37 (rarely only 9) mm long and 5 to 13 (rarely 2 to 15) mm wide.
The flowers are on 1 to 8 mm long pedicels . The calyx is 8 to 12 mm long and is covered with egg-shaped, 4 to 7 mm long calyx tips. The crown is sky blue or white, it has a bell-shaped coronet with a diameter of 14 to 25 mm and a corolla tube with a length of 18 to 32 (rarely only 13) mm. The coronary hem has hair on the intercostal fields made up of headed trichomes . The pollen grains form tetrads. The scar is wide or lenticular.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.
Occurrence
The species is found on moist soils in the center and northwest of Argentina in the provinces of Jujuy , Salta , Catamarca , Tucumán and Santiago del Estero .

The species was first described by William Jackson Hooker in 1866 .
