Nigahiga is a popular YouTube channel that was started on July 20, 2006 by the Japanese Americans Ryan Higa (born June 6, 1990 in Hilo , Hawaii ) and Sean Fujiyoshi. Most of the time only Ryan Higa himself can be seen in Higa's videos, but sometimes other people like KevJumba also appear in these. The videos on YouTube have received over 3 billion views. According to Higa, the channel name is derived from Niga (Japanese for "hate speech ") and his last name.
content
Ryan Higa and Sean Fujiyoshi started posting videos of their lips moving their lips to playbacks in mid-2006 while attending Waiakea High School . Within a short time they expanded their repertoire through various skits. Tim Enos, Ryan Villaruel, Kyle Chun and Tarynn Nago, also known as the "Yabo Crew", made guest contributions.
On Christmas Eve 2008, its two most popular videos, How To Be Gangster and How To Be Emo , were removed for copyright infringement by YouTube. On January 21, 2009, the canal was temporarily closed. This resulted in the removal of all videos with infringing content except for You're Beautiful , which has had its background music replaced. Since then, the music used in the videos has been produced by Higa itself. How to be Gangster and How to be Emo were uploaded again in August 2009, only to be removed a few days later along with How to be Ninja and How to be Nerd . In the spring of 2010 the videos How to be Ninja , How to be Gangster and How to be Emo were released.
Since Ryan Higa moved to Los Angeles, most of the videos have been his own productions.
On December 21, 2010, he became the first YouTuber to reach 3 million subscribers.
In 2011 he founded a second channel under the name "HigaTV", on which he uploads vlogs and making-ofs .
