Nigel Copsey

Nigel Copsey (* 1967 in Ferryhill ) is a British historian and political scientist . He is a professor at Middlesbrougher Teesside University . His research focuses on the history of fascism and right-wing extremism in the United Kingdom.

life and work

Copsey was born in Ferryhill , County Durham in 1967 . He obtained his Ph.D. 1995 at the University of Portsmouth with a thesis on contemporary right-wing extremism in France and Great Britain.

In 2000 he published his first book, Anti-Fascism in Britain , a monograph on the history of anti-fascism in the United Kingdom. His second book, Contemporary British Fascism: the British National Party and the Quest for Legitimacy, published in 2004, explored the rise of the British National Party and its ideology. In addition, he acted as co-editor of several anthologies on the areas of fascism and anti-fascism. Copsey is a member of the Royal Historical Society .
