Nigel Slater

Nigel Slater (born April 9, 1958 in Wolverhampton ) is a British journalist, cook and author. He has been writing a monthly cooking column for the Observer for two decades . Previously, he wrote for the English edition of Marie Claire magazine for five years .

Life

Nigel Slater was born on April 9, 1958 in Wolverhampton, a small town in the West Midlands . He was the third and youngest son of the factory owners Tony Slater and Kathleen Slater. His mother died of asthma in 1965. Just nine years later, his father also died, having married his second wife, Dorothy Perrens, three years earlier.

After completing his first education at Woodfield Avenue School in the small town of Penn, Nigel Slater moved to Worcestershire in his teens, where he attended Chantry High School. There he wrote his first essays and was one of two boys to study home economics and cooking.

Publications

In his first cookbook, The Marie Claire Cookbook , Nigel Slater published a selection of his recipes in the UK over 20 years ago. 15 more books followed. To this day, his titles Tender - Gemüse , Tender - Obst , Das Küchentagebuch , Eat , Simply Enjoy and One Year Eating Well have been published by DuMont Buchverlag in Germany . The film Toast (2010), which is about Nigel Slater's biography Halbe Portion , is based on his childhood story between tragedy and enjoyment. The main roles include Helena Bonham Carter and Freddie Highmore (Nigel Slater).
