action

The young reporter Jim Benton asks old Mr. Wilson about the three fugitives who caused a stir in 1961. Mr. Wilson implies that one of the three, Griffin, ran straight to hell.

Griffin escapes from prison in 1961 and meets two day laborers, Landis and Cook, who are looking for work. They learn that they would receive $ 2,000 to work in Cuba . With the help of the pilot Cherokee Jack, they go to a training camp. After a short time they are part of the Bay of Pigs invasion , and they belong to the vanguard who is supposed to destroy the Cubans' communications technology. The three are captured after a short time. In their prison - a guarded hut in a Cuban camp - there is also the young Bailey Chastain, whom they already met in the training camp. His leg is injured. When he notices that the three are planning their escape, he wants to come with him, as he can lead them freely to his mine, which contains uranium , among other things . The three kill an overseer and flee; Bailey Chastain they leave behind.

On their escape, they steal a plane that takes them back to the USA. Here they attack old Cliff Weismeyer, who runs a snack bar; Griffin rapes his blind daughter. In the end, they steal Weismeyer's convertible, but did not make money as they had hoped because Weismeyer's cash register was empty. The three drive to Chastain's wife Ruby, to whom they report that her husband is dead. She promises to take the trio to the mine. On the way there, they are noticed by the police, who are looking for Griffin, Landis and Cook. A mission begins to arrest the trio. Before he escapes, Griffin shoots Ruby. Landis and Cook surrender to the police; Griffin is shot while trying to escape. Ruby survives and is expected at home by her husband, Bailey Chastain, who survived captivity in Cuba.
