Night of Champions
The Night of Champions ( NOC for short ) is a bodybuilding competition that was held in New York City every year from 1978 through 2004 . From 2005 he was replaced by the New York Pro .
The competition, which was held for the first time in 1978 and, like its later successor, was considered one of the top professional bodybuilding events. The first five finalists qualified for the " Mr. Olympia " competition. In 1981 women's bodybuilding competitions were held at the NOC for the first time , but this was canceled in the following years and took place again in 2003, together with various subcategories. This year there were competitions in men's bodybuilding, as well as in the sub-categories of women's bodybuilding “lightweight”, “middleweight” and “heavyweight”, as well as in the “fitness” and “figure” competitions. In 2004, some categories of the competition were canceled, the latter two competitions were dropped and an overall winner in women's bodybuilding was selected instead. In the middleweight category, however, there was no winner.
In 2005, the competition was renamed New York Pro and continued under that title and a number of new competitions. Fitness and figure competitions had been added to the New York Pro since 2002, but both were still run as completely separate events on separate days at the time.
