Nightingale is a Swedish progressive metal band from Örebro .

history

Dan Swanö founded Nightingale in 1995 as a small solo project next to his main band Edge of Sanity at the time , in order to implement ideas there for more melodic and more Gothic-Rock- heavy melodies that did not fit the Death Metal style of the main band. Out of a short-lived predilection for bands like Rosetta Stone and The Sisters of Mercy , the album The Breathing Shadow was single-handedly created within a week and was released in January 1995 by Black Mark Production .

In 1996 he recorded a second album called The Closing Chronicles . He was supported by his brother Dag Swanö, who gave himself the stage name "Tom Nouga" due to the similarity of the name. Dag acted as producer and did some guitar recordings. The Closing Chronicles was supposed to be Nightingale's last album, which is why it took up the conceptual story of the previous album and ended with the death of the main character. The style of the album is much more progressive, which led to some appearances at genre festivals such as ProgPower USA in November 2001 in Atlanta .

After the publication of The Closing Chronicles in April 1996, there was a long break, during which Dan Swäno occupied himself with his other projects. It was not until April 1999 that the brothers revived the Nightingale project. With I , a new album was released in September 2000, which partly contained old material from unrealized projects and was written in equal parts by Dan and Dag Swanö.

With the inclusion of Tom Björn and Erik Oskarsson in December 2000, Nightingale slowly developed into a band. With them came the fourth album Alive Again , which was released in February 2003. In June 2003 Nightingale gave a rock concert in Cyprus as one of the first bands in 12 years . According to the company, 1,000 people attended this nationally televised concert.

In October 2004 the album Invisible was released , followed by the 10-year anniversary album Nightfall Overture the following winter . In the following months Nightingale was on tour a lot, for example a headliner tour through Germany took place in April 2005, with which the two albums were advertised. In mid-2006 the band found themselves back in a studio to start recording the next album. The material for this came entirely from Dag Swanö this time and was based on the hard rock style of the 1970s. White Darkness was released on June 4, 2007.
