Nikita Alexandrowitsch Schchitow ( Russian: Никита Александрович Щитов ; born March 12, 1983 in Ufa , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player .
Career
Nikita Shchitov began his career as a hockey player at Toros Neftekamsk , for which he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League at the beginning of the 2003/04 season . After only six missions, he moved to Metallurg Serow , for whose professional team he was active in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, until 2005 . At the same time, he continued to play in the Pervaya League for his second team during this period. The 2005/06 season began the attacker at third division Kedr Nowouralsk , but spent the following year and a half at Salawat Yulayev Ufa in the super league . In the 2006/07 season, the Russian played mostly for his ex-club Toros Neftekamsk, who had meanwhile been promoted to the second-rate Vysschaja Liga.
In the 2007/08 season , Shchitov stood for Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in the super league on the ice and he managed to establish himself as a regular player for the first time in the top Russian league. For the following season , the Russian moved to HK Spartak Moscow from the newly founded Continental Hockey League . He left the capital club in November 2010 to return to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk. In the following two years he completed over 70 KHL games for Neftechimik and was also assistant captain of his team during the 2011/12 season.
In May 2012 he returned to Spartak Moscow, where he signed a two-year contract. A year later he moved back to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in exchange for a compensation sum. In November 2013 it was given to Salawat Julajew Ufa as part of a ring exchange in which Igor Mussatow and Maxim Trunjow were also involved. By the end of the season, Shchitov had completed 36 KHL games for Salawat, in which he collected five scorer points as a defensive defender.
In May 2014 he was signed by the newly founded KHL participant HK Sochi and acted there as team captain in the 2014/15 season. In October he returned to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in exchange for a right to vote for the KHL Junior Draft 2016 . There he acted as team captain at the beginning of the 2016/17 season before moving to Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg in December 2016 .
From May 2017 to June 2020 he played again at HK Sochi.
