Niklas "Nik" Kahl (born May 14, 1988 in Osterode am Harz ) is a German rock and metal drummer.

Musical career

Kahl started his musical career at the age of five as the son of a family of musicians. After many years of activity in his father's various accordion orchestra formations, he began to orientate himself towards pop / rock / metal at the age of fourteen. At the age of 19 he played his first European tour of 14 concerts; This was followed by other concerts, festivals and tours with different artists, mainly as opening acts for bands like Unheilig or Scorpions , but also as auxiliary drummers, e.g. B. with the German band Oomph! .

From 2011 to 2015 Kahl was the live and studio drummer for the German Gothic / NDH band Stahlmann , with whom he regularly played international headliner tours and festivals, as well as for the international progressive rock band Flaming Row. In 2015 he founded the band Erdling with Neill Freiwald , with whom he released two albums that made it into the German album charts.

Since July 2017, Kahl has played as a temp with the dark rock band Lord of the Lost . In December 2017 he left Erdling and joined Lord of the Lost as the new drummer.

Time and again, Kahl is also active as a studio drummer for various bands, including artists such as Ferris MC or Joachim Witt,

Awards

2004 German master in the keyboard plus category of the Tasto Solo competition organized by the European Keyboard and Organ Teachers Association (EKOL).
