Neill Freiwald

Neill Freiwald , real name Nils Freiwald, (born August 3, 1990 in Munich ) is a German rock musician, video artist and music producer . He achieved fame as the front man of the metal band Erdling .

Career

Freiwald learned the piano and guitar in his childhood , which moved him to a musical career and was encouraged by his father, the presenter Walter Freiwald .

In 2005 he founded the electro band The Doctrine , which was renamed Incubite in 2009 . In 2010 Freiwald signed a recording contract for Incubite with the German label Dark Dimensions , with which he released two records, one of which reached the top 10 of the German Alternative Charts .

In 2013, after the announcement of the dissolution of Incubite, he joined the band Stahlmann and replaced Tobi Berkefeld on guitar. At the same time he founded the Sündenklang project with Stahlmann singer Martin Soer . Freiwald wrote and produced the debut album Tränenreich in collaboration with Soer , which reached number 87 on the Media Control Charts . On November 18, 2014 Freiwald announced that he would end his collaboration with the bands Stahlmann and Sündenklang due to time constraints.

In 2015 Freiwald founded the band Erdling together with Niklas Kahl , which was signed to Out Of Line Music before the first material was released. By 2020 he had released four studio albums with Erdling, all of which hit the German album charts.

As a creator of motion graphics and music videos , Freiwald designed clips for Blutengel , Tanzwut , Ost + Front and Combichrist, among others .

Freiwald lives in Grünhain-Beierfeld in the Ore Mountains .
