Niko Apel

Niko Apel (* 1978 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German director and screenwriter .

Life

Niko Apel was born in 1978 in Frankfurt am Main, the son of Heino Apel , a doctor of economics, and his wife Ingrid Apel; his stepfather is the politician Daniel Cohn-Bendit . In his youth he worked as a projectionist . In 1999 he did his community service. He then worked for film productions in Paris and Berlin. From 2002 to 2007 he studied documentary film directing at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg.

His film A Play for Freedom was shown at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2013 .
