Nikolai Kozlov Illarionovich ( Russian Николай Илларионович Козлов ; born November 30 . Jul / 12. December  1814 greg. In Orenburg , † September 29 jul. / 11. October  1889 greg. In Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian military doctor .

Life

Koslow studied medicine at the universities in Kazan (1829-1833) and Dorpat (1833-1836) and received his doctorate at the latter in 1837. After two years in Vienna , Zurich and Paris , he returned to Russia in 1839 and entered the military as a medic. From 1841 to 1853 he was a full professor at the University of Kiev , where he taught medical history , clinical anatomy and clinical chemistry . In 1854 he was appointed to Saint Petersburg, where he was deputy director, later also director, of the medical department in the Ministry of War, from 1869 to 1871 head of the medical-surgical academy and from 1871 until his retirement in 1881 chief medical inspector.

On June 1, 1861 ( registration number 1960 ) Koslow was admitted to the Leopoldina with the surname Stieglitz . For his services in the Russo-Ottoman War 1877-1878 , he was awarded the Alexander Nevsky Order in 1879 .
