Nikolaj Znaider

Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider (born July 5, 1975 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish violin virtuoso and conductor . He used to use the stage name Nikolaj Znaider .

Life

His parents are from Poland . Studying with Boris Kuschnir in Vienna was decisive for his development . In 1992 Szeps-Znaider won the 4th international Carl Nielsen competition. His international career as a violinist began when he won the 1997 Reine Elisabeth Concours in Brussels .

On November 1, 2012, in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, the Herbert Willis Concerto for Violin and Orchestra “Sacrosanto” was premiered by Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider (commissioned by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna ). He often appears with the Sächsische Staatskapelle , for example at a gala concert in the Dresden Semperoper in 2016 . Under the direction of Christian Thielemann , Szeps-Znaider played, among other things, the 1st Violin Concerto in G minor, Op. 26 by Max Bruch .

From September 2020 he will take on the position of Music Director of the Orchester National de Lyon with an initial contract of 4 years. In this position he is the successor to Leonard Slatkin .
