Nikolaus Bartholomäus Danckelmann , since 1689 von Danckelmann and since 1695 Freiherr von Danckelmann , own contemporary spelling Niclas Barthelmaes Freiherr von Danckelmann , (born May 25, 1650 in Lingen ; † October 27, 1739 in Lodersleben ) was a Privy Councilor and envoy of the Elector of Brandenburg at the imperial court in Vienna and manorial estate owner in the Electorate of Saxony .

He belongs to the Danckelmansches Siebengestirn and comes from the noble family Danckelman , whose representatives at that time usually still spelled themselves with double n. His parents were the district judge, Count of the County of Lingen and electoral councilor Mijnheer Sylvester (also Vastardus) Danckelmann (1601–1679) and Beata née Derenthal († 1683).

Career

After attending school, Nikolaus Bartholomäus embarked on an administrative career and rose to the Privy Council. In 1688 he was appointed Kurbrandenburg ambassador at the imperial court in Vienna and, together with his older brother Sylvester Jakob, represented the elector in the election of Joseph I as Roman-German king in 1689/90.

In 1697 he was plenipotentiary for the Peace of Ryswyk . In the same year he was assigned to the very elderly Chancellor of the Duchy of Magdeburg Gottfried von Jena as Minister of State and District President. In 1722 he bought two of the three manors owned by Heinrich Clemens von Starschedel and became the lord of the manor and patron saint in Lodersleben . He also acquired in Obhausen -St. Johannis a Mannlehnrittergut.

In 1690 he married Sophie Magdalena von Brömse (also: von Brömbsen) (1660–1702).

In 1739 his only son, Carl Ludolph von Danckelmann, succeeded him as patron saint in Lodersleben and Obhausen. His daughters Beate Sophie Juliane (born January 13, 1690; † September 16, 1716) and Constantina Concordia Perpedua († June 24, 1724) were married to the government councilor Hans Adam von Ende (November 9, 1686; † 1746) . He also had other daughters who were also entitled to inherit.

Nikolaus Bartholomäus is the progenitor of all later living members of the Danckelman family.
