Nikolaus Lorenz

Nikolaus Lorenz (born August 3, 1929 in Kleinker ; † November 13, 2016 ) was a German politician who sat for the ( SPD ) in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg from 1960 to 1976 .

Life

Lorenz attended elementary school and, after almost a year as a prisoner of war in France, the pedagogy and pedagogical academy in Konstanz , where his family had settled in 1942. In 1952 he entered the Baden school service. He worked as a teacher in Freiburg im Breisgau , Holzen , Maulburg and Weil am Rhein and was later deputy principal with the rank of high school councilor. From 1972 to 1992 he headed the state education authority in Lörrach .

In 1950 Lorenz joined the SPD. In 1960 he became chairman of the SPD district association in Lörrach and in the same year he entered the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg, to which he belonged for four terms until 1976. From 1965 to 1984 he was also a member of the Weil am Rhein municipal council . In 1962/63, Lorenz played a key role in founding a simultaneous pedagogical university in Lörrach as a counterweight to the then Catholic pedagogical university in Freiburg. Following the decision of the state government in 1980 to close the College of Education Loerrach belonged (1984) Lawrence of the founding members of the Friends of the Scientific Regional Library in Lörrach eV , which sought to preserve the literary equivalents of the pedagogical University of Loerrach and the Scientific Regional Library Loerrach to life called.
