Nikolaus Netzer

Nikolaus Netzer (* 1967 in Schruns ) is an Austrian conductor .

Nikolaus Netzer studied music and instrumental education at the University of Innsbruck with a focus on choir and ensemble conducting. He completed his studies with a master's degree . He obtained his conducting diploma at the Tyrolean State Conservatory. Nikolaus Netzer u. a. with the conductors Gustav Kuhn , Umberto Cattini , Karl Österreicher , Nikolaus Harnoncourt .

From 1996 to 2001 he was the musical director of the Innsbruck University Orchestra. Furthermore, in 1999 Nikolaus Netzer took over the direction of the Chamber Orchestra Musica Camerata Innsbruck and later the musical direction of the Tyrolean Chamber Choir Wörgl . He also taught at the Innsbruck Music School, the Mozarteum University of Music and Performing Arts in Salzburg and the Innsbruck University.

From 1999 to 2001 he was choir director and Kapellmeister at the Tyrolean Festival in Erl, 2001–05 choir director and Kapellmeister at the Ulm Theater . In 2004 Nikolaus Netzer took over artistic responsibility for the Montafon Summer Festival . From 2005 to 2009 he was choir director and Kapellmeister at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck . In December 2007 he was elected artistic director of the Musiktheater Vorarlberg, based in Götzis.

Nikolaus Netzer was also active as a freelance musician, mainly in the field of early music. a. with the orchestras Armonico Tributo , Wiener Akademie and Sol-sol-la-sol . He worked with artists such as Joshua Rifkin , Konrad Junghänel , Andrew Parrott , Howard Arman and Martin Haselböck . Nikolaus Netzer has been director of the Feldkirch music school in Vorarlberg since October 2009.

The conductor is married to the soprano Vera Schoenenberg . The couple has two sons.
