from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nikolaus Sigismund von Pannewitz (* 1700 in Klein Oßnig near Cottbus ; † August 18, 1748 in Berlin ) was a royal Prussian lieutenant colonel and most recently chief of the Silesian artillery battalion.

His father was the heir of Klein-Oßnig Joachim Friedrich von Pannewitz . His brother Gottlob Ernst von Pannewitz became major general.

He came to the artillery in 1719 and in 1724 he became second lieutenant there in 1724 and premier lieutenant on April 7, 1729. He then took part in the Rhine campaign of 1734. In 1736 he became a staff captain and in 1737 a real captain. After the Silesian War he became major in 1745. In 1747 he received permission to join the French army as a volunteer and fight with them in the War of the Austrian Succession in Brabant . The background was that the king wanted to learn more about the standardization of the French artillery (Valliere systems). In 1748 he became lieutenant colonel and commander of the Silesian artillery battalion, but shortly after his appointment he died on August 18, 1748 in Berlin.
