Nils Bergström (table tennis player)
Nils Bergström (born March 7, 1930 in Eskilstuna ; † August 9, 2013 ) was a Swedish table tennis player . From 1993 to 1997 he was President of the European Table Tennis Association ETTU .

In the 1940s and 1950s Nils Bergström was a table tennis player in Sweden. He took part in world championships four times , namely in 1948 , 1949 , 1951 and 1957 , but never came close to medal ranks.

After the end of his active career, Nils Bergström took on official duties. Around 1973 he became general secretary of the Swedish Table Tennis Association (Svenska Bordtennisförbundet). He organized the events of the 1985 World Cup, 1993 World Cup and 1990 European Championship, each of which took place in Gothenburg.
In 1992 he became Vice President of the European Table Tennis Association ETTU . In August 1993 he replaced Hans Wilhelm Gäb , who had resigned for professional and personal reasons, as the "Acting President" of the ETTU. He left this office to Stefano Bosi in 1997 in order to take over official functions in the world association ITTF . At the ITTF Congress during the 1997 World Cup in Manchester, he was elected ITTF Vice President. He worked on the Presidium until 2005, after which he was a member of the ITTF Advisory Board.
Private
Nils Bergström grew up in Eskilstuna with eleven siblings. He completed his training as a graphic designer. He was married and had four children. In addition to table tennis, he also played football, where he made it into the Swedish national B team at a young age.
