Nils Frenzel

Nils Frenzel (born February 28, 1991 in Bonn ) is a German author and journalist .

Life

After graduating from the Helmholtz-Gymnasium in Bonn in 2010 , he began studying German and philosophy in the same city. This was followed by a degree in media studies (Bachelor) in Bayreuth and finally a Master’s degree in Bonn. Since then he has worked as a copywriter, author and journalist. For several years now, Frenzel has been appearing at poetry slams with his mostly humorous short stories . A collection of these texts appeared under the title Why I would rather lie in the bathtub with a construction worker than with a law student at the Periplaneta publishing house in Berlin . Together with musician David Mayonga (known as Roger Rekless), he wrote the book A Negro Must Not Sit Next to Me , which deals with Mayonga's experiences with everyday racism and discrimination. The work was published in early 2019.

As a freelance journalist, Frenzel writes for Zeit Campus , Die Welt , Welt am Sonntag , VICE and Musikexpress, among others .

Frenzel lives and works in his native Bonn .
