Nils Hellner

Nils Hellner (born February 12, 1965 in Göttingen ) is a German building researcher and excavation architect .

biography

Nils Hellner grew up as the son of the photographer of the German Archaeological Institute in Athens (DAI), Gösta Hellner , son of Hans Hellner , in Greece. After completing his school career, he studied architecture at the Technical University of Berlin . After receiving his diploma in 1992, he first worked as a research assistant at the DAI Athens, then he received a travel grant in 1994/95 . From 1996 to 2004 he was assistant at the chair for building history, historical building research and monument preservation at the Technical University of Munich .

In 2002 he received his doctorate with the topic The Pillar Bases of the Second Dipterus of Samos . Subsequently taught at the Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences and at the University of Trieste . From 2004 to 2006 he was excavation architect for the Italian Mission to Oman (IMTO) and from 2006 he received a DAI scholarship for building research. From 2009 to 2017 he was a consultant for building research at the German Archaeological Institute in Athens, since then he has been active in the private sector.

Nils Hellner conducted research in the Heraion of Samos , in the Kerameikos of Athens, in Megara , Egio and Kalapodi .
