Nils Johan Andersson (born February 20, 1821 in the parish of Gärdserum , Åtvidaberg municipality , † March 27, 1880 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Andersson ".

Life

Andersson became a lecturer in botany at Uppsala University in 1846 and a teacher at the elementary school in Stockholm in 1847. From 1851 to 1853 he accompanied the Swedish frigate Eugenie as a botanist on the circumnavigation of the earth and in 1855 became adjunct and botanical demonstrator at Lund University , in 1856 professor and director of the botanical collections of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and teacher at the Bergian Garden School in Stockholm appointed. In 1857 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina Scholars' Academy .

Honor Taxton

The genus Anderssoniopiper from the pepper family (Piperaceae) was named in his honor.
