Nils Köbel (* 1977) is a German educational scientist who has been teaching as a professor of education at the Catholic University of Mainz since 2017 . He became known to a wider audience as the host of the Soziopod podcast , which won the Grimme Online Award in 2013 .

Career

Köbel studied sociology at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main from 1997 and graduated in 2002 with a diploma. From 2003 he was a doctoral student at the Institute for General Educational Science; from 2005 to 2007 research associate at the German Institute for International Educational Research . Köbel received his doctorate from Micha Brumlik in Frankfurt in 2008 and was then a teacher at the Institute for Educational Science at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen until 2011.

After a stint at the University of Cologne , Köbel was a research assistant at the Institute for Educational Science at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 2012 . Subsequently, from 2015 onwards he represented the professorship for General Educational Science ( Stefan Weyers ).

In the 2017 winter semester, he was appointed to a professorship for education at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Mainz.

The focus of Köbel's work is biography and identity research , religious and moral education as well as the theories of upbringing , education and socialization .
