Nils Lindberg
Nils Lindberg (born June 11, 1933 in Uppsala ) is a Swedish composer and arranger who is also known as a jazz musician (piano, organ).
biography
Nils Lindberg trained in classical composition at the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm . In his style he incorporates the folk music of his native Dalarna . He worked both as a composer, arranger and pianist of contemporary classical music as well as jazz. In 1973 7 Dalmålningar was published , and in 1993 his work Requiem for choir. With musicians like Jan Allan , Allan Botschinsky , Idrees Sulieman , Eje Thelin , Lars Gullin , Herb Geller , Red Mitchell and his own orchestra, he has recorded numerous albums under his own name since the early 1960s, was a sideman with Alice Babs and accompanied the singers Karin Krog (1977/80) and Lena Jansson (1984/87). After 1995 he recorded several albums with his own choral works with Gustaf Sjökvist's choir . He also composed for organ and symphony orchestra. In addition to his Requiem , A Christmas Cantata has been performed repeatedly.
Lindberg was awarded the Lars Gullin Prize in 2003.
