Nino Vingelli (born June 4, 1912 in Naples , † March 26, 2003 in Rome ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Before he started acting, Vingeli was a student at the economic institute in his native Naples; but soon he was drawn to the stage, where he gained his first experience in revues and dialect comedies. His film career began in 1941 with a role in I mariti alongside Amedeo Nazzari . After the war he established himself as a character actor in comedic as well as in dramatic parts with a sober, sedate acting style; but he could also give farmers, thugs, workers, crooks, mafiosi and greasy lawyers a face and voice in a distinctive and detailed manner. Among his more than 130 roles, some of the late 1950s stand out: those of "Pizzaccio" in Where the Hot Wind blows from 1959, the energetic “Gennaro” in The Challenge (for this role he received a Silver Ribbon for Best Supporting Actor) from the previous year and his interpretation in Auf St. Pauli der Teufel ist der Teufel ist . He often portrayed residents of his native city, some without scruples, some even lovable. Sometimes he was wasted in small roles under his possibilities. His television engagements were less numerous. From the mid-1980s it was rarely seen due to its age.
