Nintendo Switch Pro Controller in the standard version

The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller (usually called Switch Pro Controller for short ) is a gamepad for the Nintendo Switch . It was developed and published by the Japanese game console manufacturer Nintendo and is supposed to be an alternative controller to the Joy-Con . It is the successor to the Wii U GamePad or the Wii U Pro Controller .

Overview

The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is the successor to the Wii U Pro Controller and, according to Nintendo, should be "[...] even when playing longer games on TV [...] and table mode [...]". Compared to the Wii U Pro Controller, it has roughened handles, the surface is now made of transparent plastic instead of piano lacquer and the vibration function has been greatly improved. These things were often criticized with the Wii U Pro controller, as the piano lacquer often scratched the housing and quickly got fingerprints and the controller's vibration function was very weak. In addition, the two analog sticks are now offset. The button layout of the controller is therefore very similar to that of the Xbox One controller . The scope of delivery of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller includes the controller, a user manual and a USB Type-C cable for charging the controller. Up to eight Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers can be connected to a Nintendo Switch.

criticism

The control pad of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is often criticized because it, especially with games of skill, such as. B. Tetris 99 , often reacts imprecisely. It was also criticized that the controller does not use analog triggers, but only buttons as shoulder buttons, and that it does not have a headphone jack.

publication

The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller was officially introduced with the Nintendo Switch on October 20, 2016 and was available on Amazon from January 25, 2017 . Officially, however, it was only launched on March 3, 2017 with the release of the Nintendo Switch at a recommended retail price of 79.99 euros .
