geography

River course

The river has its source on the western slopes of Layatinna Hill , a mountain in the southern part of the Walls of Jerusalem National Park . From there it flows southeast along the Great Pine Tier to Brontë . There it turns its course to the south-southwest, along the Marlborough Highway and soon after crosses under the Lyell Highway . At Tarraleah he crosses under the Lyell Highway again and turns to the south-southeast. Approx. 12 km further south it flows into the Wayatinah Lagoon and thus into the Derwent River .
