Niyazi Sel (born July 17, 1908 in Istanbul , † November 23, 1980 ibid) was a Turkish football player , coach and official. Through his many years of work for Fenerbahçe Istanbul and as his own generation, he is very strongly associated with this club and is referred to by club and fan sites as one of the most important personalities in club history. He worked for the Turkish Football Association and Fenerbahçe as a club official.
Player career

Sel went through the junior division of Fenerbahçe Istanbul and was included in the professional squad during the 1928/29 season. He came in this season on October 19, 1928 in the game of İstanbul Ligi (dt. Istanbul League ) against Süleymaniye Sirkeci SK to use and scored two goals in this professional debut. Since there was no national professional league in Turkey at that time, regional leagues existed instead in metropolitan areas such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir , of which İstanbul Ligi (also called İstanbul Futbol Ligi) was considered the most prestigious. In the further course of the season Sel came to seven other league appearances and missed with his team the Istanbul championship with a four-point deficit on arch-rivals Galatasaray Istanbul .
Subsequently, Sel was an integral part of the team until the mid-1930s. After he and his team won the Istanbul championship in the 1929/30 and 1932/33 seasons , he was also part of the Fenerbahçe team that won three consecutive Istanbul championships in the 1934/35 , 1935/36 and 1936/37 seasons could. Fenerbahçe drew level with arch-rivals Galatasaray, who became the first club to reach three consecutive championships. He was also part of the Fenerbahçe team that emerged victorious in the 1936/37 season from Milli Küme , a type of championship tournament in which the teams from the three cities of Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir participated.
After these successful three seasons Sel stayed two more seasons with Fenerbahçe, but could not win another title with his team in these seasons. Following this 1938/39 season, he ended his career at the age of 31.
National team
Sel began his national team career in 1932 with a commitment for the Turkish national team in the Balkan Cup against the Bulgarian national team . By August 1937 he completed four more games and scored one goal.
With the Turkish selection Sel took part in the 1936 Summer Olympics. He also took part with the national team in the Balkan Cup in 1931 and became a silver medalist with this.
