The Niznik Island is an island off the Rymill coast of Palmer Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . In the northern section of George VI Sound , it lies opposite the mouth of the Eureka Glacier and south-southeast of the Rhyolite Islands .
Participants of the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) discovered them. The US polar explorer Finn Ronne , head of the expedition, named the island after Theodore Thaddeus Niznik (1907–1963), a doctor from Baltimore and supporter of the expedition.
