No. 1 bomber group

The No. 1 Bomber Group of the British Royal Air Force is one of the Air Command's two operations groups. Today the group is known as the Air Combat Group, it reports all fighter jets of the British Royal Air Force and airports in Great Britain as well as the RAF Support Unit Happy Valley-Goose Bay in Canada . The base in Goose Bay is mainly used as an operational training station. The group's headquarters are at High Wycombe Air Force Base , Buckinghamshire . The current commodore is Air Vice-Marshal Gerry Mayhew.

history

The 1st bomber group of the Royal Air Force (No. 1 Group RAF), which already existed during the First World War , was a combat bomber group of the Royal Air Force (RAF) during the Second World War . The unit was also involved in the area bombing of German cities ( morale bombing ) during World War II.
