No Carrier (own notation: no: carrier ) is a German-American electro-pop - band , which was founded in 1995 by Christian Wirsig and Stefan Ritter under the name Fast Delay. Originally, typical EBM and electro songs were written that were mainly influenced by bands like Front 242 , Laibach and Wumpscut , today no: carrier stands for electronic pop music with influences from other genres.

history

The first official release was the tape death: row in 1996 . The eight songs were clearly influenced by the EBM. But then Stefan Ritter left no: carrier, so that the second release did not come until autumn 1997: The tape processing was thus a pure solo project by Christian Wirsig, who continued the path given by death: row in the seven songs . With For the Unknown Body a song was also represented here, which was then released in a new form on the later CD My Own Dream .

In 2001 the singer Cynthia Wechselberger joined no: carrier , the style changed from pure EBM / electro to electro-pop, synth-pop and dark wave in the course of the production of new songs . In March 2002 the band released the CD My Own Dream on their own label Electric Heresy. The range of songs offered not only some EBM-heavy tracks but also Gothic elements, experimental pieces ( Faces of My Life ) and synth-pop songs. The album received good reviews in magazines like Orkus , Elektrocution, wrath.de, Dark Obsession and Black. After the label Electric Heresy was closed for the time being in September 2003, no: carrier signed a contract with the German label electric stars, which released My Own Dream with new packaging. In 2005 the band released the song Mr. Einstein , which was included on NovaTune's Einstein tribute album mc2 . Two years later, Christian Wirsig reactivated the Electric Heresy label and released the first album in its original form, including an eight-page booklet. A year later no: carrier wrote the music for the song Defensless on The 11th Hour album by the well-known synth-pop band Psyche . In the same year, Electric Heresy started publishing free virtual singles, which are available as downloads including cover PDFs. No: carrier's first single was Mr. Einstein - Dub 2008 . Completely new songs were finally released in 2009: The virtual single Cask of Wonders was available from January 11th. A second virtual single came out in July 2010 with Sin of Regret . At the end of the year the new album Between the Chairs was finally released. No: carrier was able to reap good reviews for this album, among others in the magazines Sonic Seducer , Side-Line, Dark Spy , madgoth.de and Amboss-Mag. In the summer of 2011, the third virtual single from the album, the song Perfectly Safe, was released .

From June 2013 on no: carrier paved the way for the release of the new album Wisdom & Failure with the EP Last Scene and the singles The Nine Days' Queen (which is dedicated to the life of Lady Jane Gray ) and Confession . It went on sale in the US on April 29th and in Europe on May 2nd, 2014. The release was accompanied by a tour of the band through California and Las Vegas, the official CD release party took place in the Viper Room in West Hollywood , whose performance was documented on the live EP Live at the Viper Room, Los Angeles .

In May 2015, the band released four cover versions of songs that were rather unusual for electro bands ( The Boys of Summer by Don Henley , California by Belinda Carlisle , Room With A View by Tony Carey and the Irish traditional She Moved Through The Fair , whose melody the Simple Minds used in their song Belfast Child ). This EP entitled Ghosts of The West Coast was supposed to show the dark side of California and the American dream. For the first time, no: carrier also worked here with guest singers from California. After Christian Wirsig moved to Los Angeles, the band grew by further guest singers and released the album "Broken Rainbow - Songs for an Apocalyptic World" in November 2016, the first single Your Heroin was released as a video shortly before. In addition to Cynthia Wechselberger and Christian Wirsig, the singers Lauralee Brown, Liza Marie Sparks, Scilla Hess and Bobby Halvorson are currently involved in no: carrier. With "Bad Moon Rising" the album again contains a cover version.
