Nobis astate, nobis hoc opus recitate ... ( If we are in and help, well then, we read Intro work before, ) is the incipit of a poem, the second book in mid-Latin written chronicle of Gallus Anonymus precedes. It is the first poem in Polish literature to deal entirely with poetic creation and one of the first autograph poems.

Like the two other introductory poems of the first and third books ( Bolezlauus dux inclitus ... and Deo vero laus et honor ... ) the poem is referred to as the epilogus 'short version'.

Formally it consists of 12 verses. The first two verses are written according to the quantitating verse principle in Leonine hexameters . The remaining ten verses, however, are designed according to the syllable-counting verse principle . Each of these verses consists of 15 syllables with a caesura after the eighth syllable and has the same accent scheme. These ten verses are linked by the tirade rhyme on -imus .

In the first two verses, the lyrical self asks the addressees not named for assistance and help to spread his work. Most likely, Bishop Paweł and Chancellor Michał mentioned in the previous dedication letter are addressed here. Only with their support can the work achieve the desired fame.

In the following verses 3–9 the metaphor of the poet is drawn as a wanderer who has taken a rest after a long journey through several unknown countries. This is an allusion to Homer's sleep in the Ars poetica of Horace (v. 358-360). In addition, from an autobiographical reading of this picture, it can be concluded that the reaction of the ducal court and the church to the first book of the chronicle was probably not benevolent and that the poet, who moved in unknown areas of Polish history, followed a different approach a possible compulsory break was imposed.

The last three verses contain the reference to the promise to continue on the path to continue the work and to make up for and add to what has been missed
